The Gulf of St. Lawrence is a dynamic region and capturing its transformation over time can take many forms. While our project focuses on its environmental governance post-1970, other methods of documenting the Gulf’s transformation include its history, economy, music, food, language and culture. Here, we present images of human interaction in the Gulf of St. Lawrence depicting life in an earlier time making us pause to reflect on matters. The images selected are but a small sample of the significant Gulf art work part of various “Canadiana” art collections in museums across Canada that we encourage you to visit.
